New Jersey is a no go (So Far, Never Surrender), I called the NJ DMV main office and they called a DMV location near me and they came back and told me that the brand name was not on their list (What a Joke), I tried to tell them it was a kit and asked if there was any way to register a kit bike they said no because that is one thing they are strict on is motorcycles (Another Laugh), I also tried the scooter approach with no avail. But I can build a boat trailer in my driveway with no DOT certification and register that and drag 4000 lbs of fiberglass and metal down the highway at high speeds.

They allow me the register my Panda 49cc and plate that why is this bike not allowed or not on their list? If they made the Kikker 5150 Hardknock DOT for all states which wouldn't be hard to do as far as making it street legal. I'm not sure what's involved as far as doing something like that for a company that builds bikes but I do know that there are tons of bike builders out there that sell street legal bikes they build, how do they all do it? I'm sure the price may rise a bit but people would still buy them and to tell you the truth sales I think would more then cover the costs involved if they were made street legal.

Sorry for the long post but I'm very disappointed because I'm stuck in this crappy state where my small business is located and everything is illegal unless the state says otherwise. Their slowly stripping us of all our freedom.

Maybe I'll need to move to Iraq so I can ride a Hardknock with a semi-automatic weapon strapped on my back to enjoy myself.

Please email me if anyone has any other info for NJ. I need to get one but only have a use for it if I can make it street legal, besides the fun of building it.

eziejka@optonline.net

Thanks

Here is the form for NJ Motorcycle title information; it’s a brand new form they said for all motorcycles/ mopeds. They were real nice and listened to all I had to say and ended up telling me this is the only way to do it now. It doesn’t matter if it’s a kit, custom bike, an assembled bike; to get it titled you need to meet the requirements.

I don't see it happening here just because of all the labels needed; unless they can be obtained then it can be done.

3 issues holding registration back

National highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) label
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Emission Label
EPA noise label

I don’t see any labels on the Panda that I have and it’s registered as a motorcycle I also showed them the registration for that, the only difference is it came with an actual title not an MCO. The title part is the real issue.

I have no problem doing what it takes to get it done, but I can't believe that it's me going to try to get it done (I don't even own one yet)and no NJ dealers have even put an effort forward to try and accomplish this and pave the way for others. If I were a dealer that would have been the first thing I worked on before selling the bikes.

BOBBERTIME says how easy it is to register a kit bike in NJ but no one has done it! How can people keep saying it's easy if they have no clue or never did it themselves?

Don't bullshit about it just get it done!

And the next person that says it easy in NJ please be ready to back it up with proof and info please.

I want it now!

This is the first time in my life that I want something that I can afford but I can't have it because of pure political bullshit! Politics suck ass! I call for a firing squad in congress! And you wonder why people go postal.

BOBBERTIME how many have you registered in NJ? And can you let us know the easy steps to get it done please. Or was that just a sales pitch to try and sell some bikes in NJ? Awaiting your response.

Everyone is also saying to register it as a custom or kit bike, but what happens when you hand them the MSO and it states the Series or Model as "Hardknock" and the trade name as "Kikker" doesn't that make it a brand right there and not a kit bike or custom?

Any and all info is apreciated, thanks.

What the hell, I ordered it. I'll worry about the registration (or not) after it's on the road!

anything yet? what about the 49cc one? i was thinking, what if u bought a cheap moped, registered and insured it, then just engraved or riveted the moped vin onto the kikker? im sure if you go to register and insure a moped they dont ask for pictures to see if it has pedals
