Question:
Does your 200cc engine get really hot while riding? like to the point where you can't touch the engine with your bare skin without burning yourself.

Also, for some random reason, while idling, everytime I turn my handle bars to the right the engine revs. I'm not tilting the bike sideways, twisting the throttle and there isn't any tension on the throttle cable. - what do you guys think?

Mine was doing the same thing. The cable was seating all the way into the carb and it was hidden by the rubber boot. Check the throttle side also and see if it pulls out when you turn.

I just put a temp gauge on my 200cc. Went for a 10 mile ride..... 30 to 45mph. It got to about 45 degrees Celcius. It was about 50 degrees Farenheit out.......

It got to about 45 degrees Celcius

so it seems that the throttle cable is pressing against the engine when I turn the handle bars right... so I'm guessing thats what causing it. Guess I'll tie that down.

Also, how are you guys making sure the headlight, brake, speedo wires are not touching the engine.. just zip ties?

I also have to install the wire holders that bolt to the engine to prevent the throttle cable and fuel filter from touching the engine - they got pretty damn hot today too. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Zip ties are your friends!!
Just to be sure about the hot motor, spray some starting fluid all around the carb and all the fittings, manifold, etc. while it is running (not in the air cleaner area). If the RPM's go up you have an air leak. This can cause the engine to run lean and a lean running engine will be HOT.

ok, so my exhaust pipe, where it connects to the engine, glows red after running for 10 minutes....

as much as I like how it matches to red on my bike, most likely I am running too lean

I am going to do what Dave Carlson suggested to try to find the leak... question is, how do I fix it once I find it? my carb is bolted down pretty damn tight to the engine and I made sure the 0-ring was there during the build.......thoughts guys?

Route all the wires on top of the frame then slip your gas tank over them for a clean look. Have you adjusted the clip on the needle? Bottom groove so it runs more rich, if you're running too lean it will run hot
